Even before this Covid-19 virus worldwide outbreak, there is already an ongoing and uprising trend on working from home in some industries. And with the fast-paced progression of technology, which allows communications beyond boundaries, more companies are trying to implement homebased settings to their teams.

Regardless if you are in the office or you are in the comfort of your own home, it still boils down to one thing: you are still working!

So, is working from home for you? Let me share with you 5 best reasons to start working from home. These reasons, honestly, made me jump from office-based to homebased in a snap!

Work From Home

1. No commuting needed

If you live in a country like the Philippines, then you understand the need to allot at least 1.5 hours of going to and from the office. It is not the best thing as those hours are taken away from somewhere else more important like me-time or your precious time with family and friends.

If you work from home, no commuting is needed. You only need to travel from your bed to your own designated workplace in the house. The bed? No worries. In the living room? Perfectly fine. In the kitchen? Great! Just find the most productive place for you to work and you are good to go! No commuting = more extra time!

2. Flexible Work Schedule

When you work from home, you get to have to a total control over your day. Of course, you still need to be in-contact with your teammates and/or your supervisors, but there is still more freedom to it compared to when you are bound in the walls of an office.

You can take a break any time or eat your lunch while working. It is totally up to you! Most work from home jobs allows you to define your hours and finish your work when you are most productive.

3. Cozy clothes and environment

You want to work in your pajamas? Wish granted! When you work from home, there is no need for strict formal attires. Wear what you want and feel like wearing. Do not show up in a virtual meeting in your jammies and uncombed hair, though.

As for the work environment, working from home gives you the liberty to set up your office the way you want. No one will judge you if you feel like banging your head with hardcore metal bands during work hours, believe me! Again, work when and where you are most productive.

4. Better pay (Sometimes)

It is much easier to optimize and minimize the cost when you work from home. Just imagine how much money you can save in skipping your daily cup of store-bought coffee and not doing impulse buys here and there. At home, you can make your own coffee any time at enjoy it while working.

Do not forget your responsibilities, though. Pay taxes, get an insurance and secure your future. But it will not hurt to splurge and spend some for your yourself.

5. Ensures presence in your loved ones' lives

Working from home allows you to fulfill other duties - may it be as a child, a partner, a parent, a pet-parent, or an advocate. When you work at home, it makes you more present in the lives of your loved ones. You will no longer miss their milestones. You will be there in their most special moments. You can take care of them and be with them when they need you the most.

These are only the top 5 best reasons for me, and some of us in the field, that made us cross from being an office-based to home-based worker. There are many more hundred reasons for you start working from home or seeking an industry that allows you to work remotely, you only need to find the reason within you. Start by knowing all your WHYs before moving on in deciding WHERE you want to work.
